What is Kidney Disease ?
The kidneys are vital organs in the body, performing essential functions that keep us healthy. They filter waste products from the blood, regulate fluid balance, control salt and potassium levels, and help eliminate toxins from the body. Additionally, kidneys produce hormones that regulate blood pressure, stimulate red blood cell production, and activate vitamin D to maintain strong bones.
Symptoms of Kidney Disease ?
In the early stages, CKD may have few or no symptoms. As the disease progresses, common symptoms include:
- Foamy urine
- Frequent or infrequent urination
- Itchy or dry skin
- Fatigue
- Nausea and loss of appetite
- Unintentional weight loss
- Indigestion or Difficulty Swallowing
- Persistent Pain in Bones or Muscles
What Causes Kidney Disease ?
Cancer occurs due to genetic mutations triggered by various factors. Some major causes include:
- Genetic Factors:-Family history of cancer, Inherited genetic mutations (e.g., BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes for breast cancer)
- Lifestyle Factors:- Smoking and Tobacco Use, Excessive Alcohol Consumption, Poor Diet, Lack of Physical Activity
- Environmental Factors:- Radiation Exposure, Exposure to Harmful Chemicals
- Infections:-Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Hepatitis B and C, Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)
Treatment for Chronic Kidney Disease
Conventional (Allopathic) Treatments for Kidney Disease
- Dialysis: A procedure to artificially filter waste and excess fluids from the blood when the kidneys can no longer do so.
- Kidney Transplant: Surgical implantation of a healthy kidney from a donor. Post-transplant, lifelong medication is required to prevent rejection.
- For some patients, conservative care with symptom management and palliative care may be chosen instead of dialysis or a transplant.
Ayurvedic Treatment for Kidney Disease
- Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine, offers a holistic approach to treating kidney disease by addressing the root causes rather than just symptoms. Ayurveda emphasizes balancing the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—to restore harmony within the body, mind, and spirit. The goal is to detoxify and rejuvenate the kidneys and overall system, using natural remedies and therapies.
