What is Liver Disease?
Liver disease refers to any disorder that affects the functioning of the liver, leading to inflammation, infections, scarring, or liver failure. The liver is a vital organ responsible for detoxification, metabolism, and digestion. Damage to the liver can impair digestion, blood purification, and energy production, impacting overall health.
Liver diseases range from mild inflammation to severe conditions like cirrhosis and liver cancer. While allopathy focuses on medications and surgical interventions, Ayurveda treats liver diseases by detoxifying the body and restoring balance to the three Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha).
Types of Liver Disease
Liver Disease
The symptoms of liver disease vary depending on the type and severity of the condition. Common signs include:
✔ Hepatitis A – Caused by contaminated food/water; usually temporary.
✔ Hepatitis B & C – Spread through blood and bodily fluids; can cause chronic liver disease.
✔ Hepatitis D & E – Less common, but can lead to severe liver damage.
Fatty Liver Disease
Fat accumulation in the liver impairs function.
✔ Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (AFLD) – Due to excessive alcohol consumption.
✔ Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) – Caused by obesity, diabetes, or poor diet.
Cirrhosis
Liver Scarring & Damage
✔ Irreversible scarring of the liver due to long-term damage.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma - HCC
